What follows is a "Statement of Purpose" from the new book, Bible Basics: Essential Foundations for Christian Living. This book is complete, but it has not been published, as of this posting. Publication awaits God's direction as to the method and means for publication. Every word in the title is meaningful, as follows: Treats Bible topics, deals with basic concepts, provides essential information, builds a foundation for faith, features Jesus Christ, and is focused on "ways to live". More will be posted here, as doors open. The following appears at the front of the book, and states the purpose for the studies it contains:
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The purpose of this book is to reflect the truths of Scripture in regard to God’s expectations and provisions for believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. He asks much of us, yet He has given us many things to facilitate our Christian living. We will see that God does not ask us to do anything that He will not equip us to perform.
His equipment comes to us in the form of supernatural empowerment...from the Holy Spirit...understood primarily through His Word. The power of the Holy Spirit is accessed in specific ways, and it is our purpose to see what these ways are. If we do not master them, even if we are “trying hard to be good”, we will fail miserably, because we are inadequate to produce divine righteousness apart from divine enablement.
Paul said, more than once, “Yet not I”, and referred to Jesus Christ and His grace as the source for all godly achievement. It is not “we” who accomplish anything worthwhile as believers, but the Spirit Who lives in us. When we grasp this, we will know what Satan has tried to conceal: that we can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us.
This book articulates the divine hierarchy (God is big; we are small), and explains from Scripture the procedures God has specified for accessing all His grace assets. If you want to reach the pinnacle for Christian living, and “dwell in the shelter of the Most High”--through an ongoing faith in God—read on. This information will benefit you and bless you.
New believers, and believers who are uncertain as to what to do next, will find this study particularly useful. This is not a seminary textbook. It is a travel guide for pedestrians...those of us who are seeking to know the “way”, because we thirst for God.
By the time you finish this book—or course, actually—you will be moving along the pathway that leads to maturity. It is my prayer that you will grow in understanding, in faith, and in the power of the Holy Spirit...to enrich your own life, and to bring honor to our God.
Thanks to our Father for His grace and love, and for giving us His life.
